Surface hardening refers to increse the hardness of the outer surface while the core remains relatively soft. Hest treatment content a carbon less han 0.30%, what if carbon content more than 30% ability to do induction or flame hardening process. Case depth depends on ability of penetrate of Carbon or Nitrogen. After heat treatment process workpieces surface hardness will be stronger resist to wear. Mostly common using with Machanical parts ex. Gear, Shaft, Spiral Etc...
